  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, sliced jalapeños, salsa, guacamole

Instructions

  1. Spice things up: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken with chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, onion, garlic, egg, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  2. Form patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into 4 patties about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Grill or pan-fry: Heat a grill or large skillet over medium heat. Cook the burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
  4. Melt the cheese: Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cook for an additional minute or until melted.
  5. Assemble and enjoy: Toast the burger buns. Place a cooked burger on the bottom half of each bun, top with desired toppings, and cover with the top half of the bun. Serve immediately and enjoy the spicy Southwestern flavors!

  • Veggie boost: Add chopped bell peppers or diced jalapeños to the burger mixture for extra flavor and texture.
  • Serve with: Pair these burgers with your favorite Mexican sides like Mexican rice, black beans, or tortilla chips.
