Beef Kebab


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers (soaked in water for at least 30 minutes)

Equipment:

  • Large bowl
  • Skillet or grill
  • Tongs

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a large bowl, combine the beef cubes, onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper.
  2. Make the Marinade: In a separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Marinate the Beef: Pour the marinade over the beef and vegetables and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
  4. Assemble the Kebabs: Thread the beef and vegetables onto the soaked skewers.
  5. Cook the Kebabs: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the kebabs for 5-7 minutes per side, or until the beef is cooked through and slightly charred.
  6. Serve: Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as rice pilaf, hummus, pita bread, and tzatziki sauce.

Tips & Variations:

  • For extra flavor, marinate the beef in yogurt instead of olive oil.
  • Add other vegetables to the skewers, such as cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, or zucchini.
  • Use different cuts of beef, such as flank steak or skirt steak.
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before threading the meat and vegetables. This will prevent them from burning on the grill.
