Singaporean Rojak Salad



If you’re looking for a salad that’s bursting with flavor and a little different from the usual greens, this traditional Singaporean Rojak is a perfect choice. It combines the freshness of tropical fruits and vegetables with a tangy, slightly sweet dressing that makes every bite exciting.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into small chunks
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup jicama (or green apple if you can’t find jicama), thinly sliced
  • ½ cup lightly blanched bean sprouts
  • ½ cup fried tofu, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons roasted peanuts, roughly crushed
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

For the dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or palm sugar
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional for a little heat)

Preparation

  1. Place the pineapple, cucumber, jicama, bean sprouts, and tofu in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together tamarind paste, lime juice, soy sauce, honey (or palm sugar), and chili flakes until the dressing is smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and gently toss until everything is nicely coated.
  4. Sprinkle with crushed peanuts and toasted sesame seeds just before serving.
  5. Enjoy it fresh as a light meal or a vibrant side dish!
